Student Health Coalition:

community  organizing  trials  and  errors  1969-1989

Beginning in 1969, student activists from Nashville, Tennessee set out to change the world. With little experience and great enthusiasm, they ventured beyond the boundaries of their insular college campus into coal mining communities in Appalachia, cotton farming towns in west Tennessee, into Virginia, Alabama, North Carolina. Their goal: to empower the disempowered.  The main tool in their tool box: community organizing around access to health care.
